Sustainability

The EM Agriton System has been developed to support farmers towards a more profitable life-style. This includes better management of the natural resources available on-farm which may otherwise be replaced with the use of chemicals and pesticides.

Our focus is aimed at a better understanding of the physical and chemical processes which take place in the biological system of soil, plant and animal. The right balance in the soil gives better, healthier crops, which in turn, improves the quality of food grown for consumption

N-Hance Slurry Treatment

Treating slurry can reduce your dependence on inorganic nitrogen fertilisers!

Farm slurry is an extremely valuable resource and if managed correctly can reduce dependence on inorganic fertilisers.

Effective Micro-Organisms Ltd have developed a product which is easy to use and allows the organic nitrogen in the slurry to be retained, providing valuable nitrogen to the soil when spread.  N-Hance + acts like a semi-conductor so that the salts from the urine and any other toxic component going into the slurry ( foot bath wash, antibiotics in the dung, chemical cleaner etc) will be de-toxified and not destroy the valuable organic nitrogen.

Farmers can reduce the farm's nitrogen feriliser usage by up to 1 Kg/CuM of treated slurry; it will also save money by eliminating the need to mix the slurry as it prevents crust formation. In addition, the EM microbes in the slurry will, once applied, improve soil fertility, increasing yields.

In addition EM & N-Hance reduces the loss of nitrogen to the atmosphere in its gaseous forms.

By treating slurry with N-Hance and EM (Effective Micro-organisms) the fermentation results in an improved quality manure for crops with the following effects:

  • Shifting of mineral nitrogen to organically bound nitrogen
  • Improved utilisation of nitrogen available
  • Less ‘pungent’ manure which is less astringent on roots
  • Increased ‘Life’ in the soil  (microflora & fauna)
  • Reduced ammonia and mercaptens in the housing
  • Less crust formation
  • odours  reduction
  • emissions to the atmosphere reduced
  • converts the slurry into a valuable resource
  • helps  liquefy manure that has a high solids content
  • improves the quality of end product
  • Reduced flies ( EM stops eggs hatching)

Improve your nitrogen efficiency and activate the soil-animal-manure cycle on your farm

Effective Micro-Organisms

Used in conjunction with N-Hance slurry treatment. EM-1 boosts the microbial activity in the slurry.

As a general rule little attention is paid to the microbial properties in our soils. However the balance of the nutrients and 'life' in th soil is directly connected to the micro-organisms present. By restoring these micro-organisms which may have become depleted from the use of pesticides, chemical fertilisers, continuous cropping, tillage and heavy machinery, the soil may be rejuvenated and activated to provide better use of the nutrients

available in the soil. This leads to better crops and healthier food for us.

EM® is a unique mixture of anaerobic and aerobic micro-organisms which freely occur in nature and have been bought together in this liquid solution. The main groups include lactic acid bacteria, photosynthetic bacteria, yeasts, actinomyceten and fungi.

Advantages & Properties of EM®

  • Fast conversion of organic material to compost.
  • Stimulates the microbial activity in manure and soil.
  • Depresses disease causing bacteria in crops.
  • Increases the durability of harvested crops.
  • Improves taste and intake of grass, maize and whole crop.
  • Increases surface composting of rest-products after harvesting.
  • Stimulates theconversion process to compost and prevents rotting.

Bokashi

Bokashi is the Japanese word for 'a well fermented product'. For agricultural use Bokashi is made from a mixture of organic material ( bran, hops,) which has been inoculated with EM® micro-organisms, sugar-cane molasses, Edasil clay minerals and Ostrea

seashell chalk. This process allows the production of enzymes, antioxidants, vitamins and other bio-active products in the Bokashi. By adding Bokashi to the soil / and/of the manure microflora are fed to the soil.

  • Recycling of farms own waste products.
  • All organic material can be used.
  • Own production - low cost.

  • Rich in nutrients.
  • Effective buffer for disease suppressing.
  • Speeds up the supply of organic material.

Edasil Clay Minerals

To improve the structure of the soil and re-balance the mineral content of the soil. These clay minerals have an amazing layered structure which allows them to swell to great capacity.

Through this they can absorb large amounts of minerals and water which may otherwise be flushed out of the soil in certain weather conditions. They also contain essential spoor elements in a balanced amount.

Advantages & Properties of Edasil Clay Minerals

  • Increases the fertility of the soil.
  • Increases the absorption properties of the soil
  • Prevents depletion of nutrients through rain or flooding
  • Easy application

  • Better nutrient uptake by plant ( through the root system)
  • Increased water and oxygen available in the soil
  • Stimulates the activity in the soil
  • Increases the nitrogen available.

Ostrea Seashell Chalk

This crushed seashell has a rough structure which provides calcium to the soil without overloading the soil. The calcium is slowly absorbed.

Advantages & Properties of Ostrea Seashell Chalk

  • Easy application
  • Increases the soil fertility
  • Improves the structure of the soil
  • Activates the soil
  • Acid content 54

  • Rich in calcium carbonate (CaCO3)
  • Slow release
  • Chalk produced by living organisms
  • Contains copper, iron, manganese, zinc, cobalt, selenium, fluoride, natrium and chloride.
